The Aim

Summit Psychology Services had an existing website that was outdated, overcomplicated, and hard to navigate.
Visitors struggled to find key information about therapy services and training courses. The practice needed a fresh, professional look and a structure that would make it easy for parents, carers, and professionals to use.

My Approach

I started with a user‑centred research phase, working closely with the client.

1. User Personas

We identified the four most likely types of visitors to the site (e.g., parents seeking therapy for a child, professionals booking training, etc.).

2. Task Matrix

For each persona, we listed every task they might want to complete. I then created a priority matrix (ranked 1, 2, or 3) to quantify which tasks were most important and identify overlaps.

3. Informed Design

The matrix directly shaped the navigational structure and the placement of key calls‑to‑action.

This analytical approach meant the design wasn’t guesswork – it was built around real user needs.

Design & Development

I used WordPress with Elementor to keep development costs efficient, while adding custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for bespoke elements like a tailored carousel. Every image was given descriptive alt text, and I followed WCAG accessibility guidelines throughout – as I do for all my projects.

I also handle the hosting to this day – the client pays for their domain, and I ensure the site remains secure, updated, and fully maintained. This means Summit Psychology never has to worry about technical issues or downtime.

The client and I went through several rounds of revision on the initial pages (home, services) until the design language felt right. Once established, the remaining pages were completed without further revisions – a smooth, collaborative process.

The Biggest Challenge

The client was eager to include a lot of written content on every page. My role was to keep expectations realistic – too much text would overwhelm users and hide key messages. I guided them toward concise, scannable copy that keeps visitors engaged and leads them to the CTA.

Ongoing Partnership

I don’t disappear after launch. Summit Psychology remains a client to this day – I host and maintain their site, and they continue to rely on me for improvements and support. That’s the level of trust and long‑term relationship I build with every client.
